Today’s my birthday!
Didn’t do anything special or out of the norm really. I went to work and drew stuff. That’s about it.
A ring which I’ve designed came back from production in Hong Kong today. It’s a nice feeling to see your own design realised into an actual product. Slowly, I’ll see more and more of my designs coming into the shop, but I do hope that they don’t stay in the shop for too long. In order to be a successful commercial design, they need to be sold.
The lady boss and the boss bought me a box of pastries and a box of chocolate for my birthday. Very generous and kind of them. I’ve tried a couple pieces of the pastries upon reaching home, they’re pretty good.
Tomorrow I’ll be meeting my ex-colleagues for a celebration. It’ll be a combined celebration for all the May babies among our circle of friends. They asked me what would I like to have as a birthday gift. I told them that I find it really weird to actually make a request for a gift for myself. Anyway, it’s the thought that counts. Right?
As always, my mother gave me a red packet for my birthday, a practical and a well-meaning little gift. She offered to buy me a small cake after work, but I turned her down on her offer. 
I love my mom.
A regular customer of my boss, bought the design which I’ve only finished drawing this afternoon, this evening. We have this huge bi-coloured amethyst in the shop which have been lingering around for too long and I’ve been tasked to design something with it so we can something new to display in the shop. The boss confirmed the design and I prepared to send the design with all the necessary stones for production. The boss’ regular customer came in, the boss show her the illustration and she bought it!
No, not the illustration itself. The boss quoted her the price for the massive pendant which can also be doubled up as a brooch, and she actually paid for it. I guess it’s also because the boss is a pretty efficient sales-person, but I’d like to think that it’s all because of my awesome design!
Since it’s my birthday today, so I can indulge in a little “make-myself-feel-good” moment.
Anyhow, that’s all I’ve share tonight. Not going to make any birthday resolutions or anything. I’ll just carry on walking towards the same goals I’ve already set for myself.
